The two-year fellowship training program beginning in May 2016 represents the core of the comprehensive pediatric cancer healthcare system that Aslan seeks to develop at Jimma University Medical Center.

Executed according to a international curriculum, our program utilizes a twinning approach that engages world-renowned oncologists, each with valuable experience working in low- and middle-income countries, to provide mentorship and training to local specialists in pediatric oncology/hematology and palliative care. Fellows also participate in a six-month specialized training program at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India, the national comprehensive treatment and research cancer center in India and considered one of the leading cancer centers in a low-resource setting.

We welcome the two brilliant physicians participating in the program, Dr. Melkamu Berhane Arefayine from Jimma and Dr. Doreen Mutua Karimi from Gertrude Children’s Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
