Through a partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Dr. Miguel Bonilla joins Aslan as Clinical Director for our new pediatric cancer program at Jimma University Specialized Hospital.

Aslan Medical Advisory Board member Dr. Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo returns to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to become its Executive Vice President, Chair of the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine, and Director of its International Outreach Program.

The Aslan Project and the Indus Hospital (TIH) sign a memorandum of agreement to establish activities to increase capacity within Pakistan, Ethiopia, and other agreed LMICs to diagnose, treat, and care for children and adolescents with cancer. The International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) selects nurses from three continents to receive The Aslan Project nursing scholarships to attend the 47th Congress of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) on October 5-11 in Capetown, South Africa. http://bit.ly/1Ljxr9s

Dr. Shilpa Murthy, Program Coordinator of our Rwanda Breast Cancer Initiative (RBCI), has received the American Council of Surgeons Surgical Resident Volunteerism Award for her transformative work with the RBCI. With support from The Aslan Project, Dr. Murthy developed a Clinical Breast Exam Simulation Training Course to provide care and educate surgical, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology residents and medical students at the University of Rwanda. http://bit.ly/1JM5EA9
